Proxy Centre provided transport services for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the best Cup of all time

Top officers of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) said the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russiaтм was the best of all time. Proxy Centre provided comprehensive transport services for the Cup at all stages.

“Russia adopted a comprehensive and responsible approach to preparing for the World Cup, and we are sincerely happy that it has been a success and has united millions of people globally around football. Our efforts have been praised by athletes, who we have accommodated in a way for them to show their maximum potential, and by the media, assisted around-the-clock by staff at 11 city press centres of the tournament. Fans, too, have praised us,” said Russian President Vladimir Putin, commenting on the World Cup. “We can definitely feel proud of how we organised this tournament. We did it for our fans in Russia and for sports enthusiasts everywhere around the world. And we have done it,” the President of Russia said after the World Cup’s final match.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino, in turn, called the World Cup in Russia the best of all time. “This has been a great adventure for hundreds of thousands of people who came and enjoyed the welcoming and warm atmosphere. About four billion people watched the World Cup, many saw the beauty, cultural and historical richness of Russia. The world learned about it,” Mr. Infantino said. “All those things together made the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ the best of all time.”

Proxy Centre provided comprehensive transport services for the World Cup and related events in eight out of eleven host cities. Proxy Centre was in charge of the transport areas and transport and information desks in all the Cup’s 11 host cities. The company provided client groups with on-time and comfortable transport between stadiums, training bases, official event venues, hotels and airports; it also handled prompt resolution of logistics issues, as well as arrival and departure services for high-ranking guests. Vehicles were provided by Mercedes and by Hyundai and KIA, the Cup’s partners.

Providing transport services for the World Cup was one of the biggest projects Proxy Centre handled in its eight years of work:

  • The company provided transport services in eight Russian cities: Moscow, St Petersburg, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don and Volgograd
  • The work, including planning and providing services for World Cup-related events, lasted in total over eighteen months
  • More than 2,350 Proxy Centre employees and embedded contractors worked on the project
  • Over 1,500 vehicles with drivers and over 350 employees in charge of assistance and coordination were directly involved in providing the transport services
  • The company serviced over 30,000 individual and group transport bookings
  • Over 510 Proxy Centre’s employees and embedded contractors worked at transport and information desks and in transport areas in all 11 host cities. The number of employees in each city varied from 30 to 190
  • During the preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russiaтм, Proxy Centre provided transport services, set up the work of transport and information desks and transport areas at the seminar in Sochi for teams playing in the World Cup and during FIFA representatives’ inspection visits to the host cities
  • Proxy Centre took part in preparing and holding World Cup related events, such as the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup held in Russia in June–July 2017, and the World Cup Final Draw held on 1 December 2017 in the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow

  • Over 3 million people went to the World Cup matches. Average stadium occupancy was over 98%. The average number of fans at a game was 47,400
  • 2,403,116 tickets of all categories to World Cup games were sold (including tickets to several games of a chosen team)
  • RUB 850 billion: Russia’s treasury received from holding the World Cup
