World Olympians Forum, 2015

Russian Olympic Committee

The first World Olympians Forum organized by the World Olympians Association (WOA) in conjunction with the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) was acknowledged as an effective communication platform to exchange experience and discuss the best practices and projects that have high priority for Olympians and the world community.

On 21 October, series of roundtable events were organized, along with the plenary session attended by the President of the Russian Federation, which became the highlight of the Forum. On 22 October 2015, the General Assembly held its meeting, which featured elections to the Executive Committee of the World Olympians Association.

Guests of the Forum included WOA Patron HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, WOA President Joël Bouzou, ROC President Alexander Zhukov, WOA Treasurer Patrick Singleton, Sergey Bubka, Vice President of the International Association of Athletics Federations, Olympic champions Yelena Isinbayeva, Svetlana Khorkina, Anastasia Davydova, Evgeni Plushenko, Alexey Nemov, Michelle Ford-Eriksson, Gary Hall, Charmaine Crooks and many other prominent sports officials and celebrated athletes. The Forum was attended by 270 participants, including 35 VIP guests, 15 famed foreign athletes, 25 speakers, 102 representatives of national Olympic associations and eight representatives of the International Olympic Committee.

Accomplishments:

  • Development of the online registration portal in four languages enabling participants to provide their personal data, share service preferences (air travel, accommodation), and request visa support;
  • Informational support for participants in the run up to the event and in the course of the project, provision of complimentary accommodation and airline tickets, visa support, and airport pickups. Presence of managers at the venue for prompt coordination and administrative support for participants;
  • Development of informational materials for the Forum (administrative circular, letters of information, delegates’ guidebooks;
  • Provision of merchandize and printing products (delegates’ bags, notepads, and pens);
  • Selection of sites, drawing up of diagram manuals, buildup of workrooms, banner, navigation, and floral services;
  • Transport services (transfers to meetings and farewell events, provision of executive cars for groups of participants and vans to deliver guests to events of the cultural program);
  • Engagement with international and Russian media, invitation of journalists, coordination of accreditation, preparation of media materials, coordination with speakers’ press services, support for the operation of the media center during the Forum, organization of interviews and media availability.
