Sberbank employees celebrate their professional holiday on the 12th of November, while on the same day the bank itself celebrates its 170th anniversary. The big 2011 ceremony started with a business breakfast with the theme, “Global finances: between the hammer and the anvil”, which took place in the Ritz Carlton Hotel and included participation former minister of Finance Alexey Kudrin. The economic situation in the country was the key issue for discussion. Then a conference “New management technologies. What’s going to change the world? ” took place in the Merchant Court.
The Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin was the main guest of the conference. He congratulated the bank on the anniversary and joked: “If Sberbank was a human, there easily could be some Raskolnikov for that time, which should not be excluded”. He also highlighted the fact that millions of Russians believe that Sberbank remains the symbol of confidence and stability.
Speaking of the bank’s work, Mr. Putin promised that by 2014 all its customers will be able to control their accounts through any Sberbank department located in the Russian Federation. Such a system will be provided thanks to the biggest integrated data processing center in Europe. The prime minister characterized the current bank’s work as “dynamic”: more than 3.5 trillion rubles were allocated for legal entities’ credits within nine months. The majority of those credits were provided for transport, communications, agriculture, energy supply and small business development.
