The APEC Conference: Shaping Education within APEC was held in Vladivostok on July 9-10 at the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) facilities as part of Russia's tenure as APEC chair.
The Russian delegates, Primorye Territory Governor Vladimir Miklushevsky and Viktor Smirnov, Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science, gave the opening address. Mr Smirnov read a message of greetings from the Education and Science Minister, Dmitry Livanov, to those at the news conference. The message emphasized the importance of education processes aimed at integration in the APEC region.
The conference focused on promoting regional integration in education and the academic mobility of students and faculty in a globalized world. The delegates from the APEC economies discussed the prospects for forming multilateral partnerships between universities, in particular, establishing a network of APEC Study Centers. In addition, the heads of the education ministries and departments shared their experience regarding the internationalization of science and education.
Conference attendees included delegates from the APEC countries and other international organizations, such as the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, UNESCO, the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) and the World Bank Institute, representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Russian APEC Study Center, the heads of Russian federal universities and other leading higher education institutions, representatives from foreign universities and Russian and foreign experts.
The complex transport service was provided by Proxy Centre LLC during the APEC Youth Forum, such as escorting to the Vladivostok International Airport (Location: Artem town), providing recreational transportation, as sightseeing or dinner.
