XXIV International Banking Congress

On June 3–5, 2015, St. Petersburg hosted the XXIV International Banking Congress. Representatives of national banks from around the world and the financial elite met at IBC-2015, which was held under the theme “Financial Industry: Challenges and Solutions”. IBC-2015 was hosted by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the Administration of St. Petersburg and the SPIEF Foundation under the “Proxy Centre” company organizational support.

The official business programme was dedicated to discussion of the most critical challenges facing the financial industry, such as how to set an optimal monetary policy in today's realities; the advantages and disadvantages of particular banking models; international approaches to bank regulation; maintaining the stability of banks and banking systems; optimal ways to protect the interests of bank creditors and depositors; building and operating national payment systems in a competitive global environment; increasing financial affordability; and developing digital financial services. The business programme of included six sessions and two round tables, as well as a dialogue with the Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, Anton Siluanov, a gala franking ceremony of stamp sets dedicated to the history and development of the Bank of Russia.

For “Proxy Centre” it is not the first time organizing the Congress. This year company was responsible for broad spectrum of tasks: online registration system, accreditation of delegates, technical staff and media representatives on the meeting venue at Corinthia St. Petersburg, transport support, call-centre organization and informational work with speakers and other VIP-guests.   

The preparation started in March, when our call-centre specialists made two-phased follow-up (primary monitoring) according to a database of 2700 Russian and foreign participants, during which our managers updated personal and contact details, resent invitation if necessary. Every participant, who confirmed its participation, was assigned with a personal manager. As a result there were concluded 199 agreements. Beyond that, a group of Liaison Officers was working with VIP participants, who were meeting and greeting them, accompanying on the venue, providing logistic and administrative support.    

Transport logistics department of the “Proxy Centre” company rendered full range of services, including transfers and chauffeured company cars for VIP guests organization, as well as transportation for cultural programme. Technical management set-up and branded the meeting venue of the Congress. Totally it was accredited 80 people of the Organizing Committee, 185 people of technical staff and 10 accompanying persons.

This year, the International Banking Congress was visited by about 550 participants from 36 countries and 126 media representatives. These are  members of the Federation Council, the State Duma, the Russian Government, Bank of Russia, international financial institutions, central (national) banks, banking (financial) watchdogs from around the world, Russian and foreign banks, banking associations, audit firms, consulting and IT companies, and the scientific community. One specific feature of IBC-2015 was that the panellists and speakers included 27 Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen of central (national) banks from 16 countries.
