The first Russian Energy Week (REW) Energy Efficiency and Energy Development International Forum was held in Moscow and St. Petersburg from 3 to 7 October. Its participants addressed the world energy agenda, the main directions for the development of the fuel and energy sector, and considered options for optimum solutions in response to the challenges faced by the industry.
Proxy Centre was engaged in the organization of the largest congress event in the Russian fuel and energy sector and provided the entire range of services associated with the accreditation of participants in the Russian Energy Week and media representatives covering the work of the forum.
Proxy Center specialists provided the operation of four accreditation desks in Moscow and a service and information counter at the main forum venue — the Central Exhibition Hall ‘Manege’, as well as accreditation counters at the main REW site in St. Petersburg — the Congress and Exhibition Center. The accreditation desks operated throughout all of the four days of the Russian Energy Week. The Proxy Center staff had prepared well in advance all the necessary facilities and equipment, and trained staff engaged in the operation of the accreditation desks.
Proxy Centre successfully and completely fulfilled the tasks assigned, providing accreditation services for more than 10,000 participants in the forum.
The key event of the official business program of the forum was the plenary session “Energy for Global Growth,” where President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin delivered a speech. The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, also took part in the REW, speaking at the panel discussion “Oil and Geopolitics: Causes and Consequences.”
The 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum was held on the sidelines of the REW. The ministers approved the five-year working plan of the forum, and also appointed State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Yuri Sentyurin the next GECF Secretary General for a two-year term beginning in January 2018.
The business program of the forum in Moscow included 45 events, in which 279 speakers and moderators participated. The business program of the 7th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (SPIGF), which took place within the framework of the “Russian Energy Week” in St. Petersburg, included more than 60 events, with more than 400 speakers.
Representatives of 94 countries participated in the Moscow forum, and representatives of 42 countries visited the venue in St. Petersburg. Attending the Russian Energy Week and representing foreign organizations and associations were Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo, Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Adnan Amin, Secretary General of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (GECF) Seyed Mohammad Hossein Adeli, and Director General of the Nuclear Energy Agency William D. Magwood.
Also attending the forum were Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Gulomzhon Ibragimov, 24 ministers from 17 foreign countries (Algeria, Armenia, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Venezuela, Greece, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Iran, Qatar, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea), and 38 heads of diplomatic missions.
The forum was attended by heads of 140 Russian and 35 foreign companies. The work of the Moscow forum was covered by 191 media, including 58 international and foreign media from 18 countries (Algeria, the UK, Germany, India, Iraq, Iran, Spain, Italy, Qatar, China, Latvia, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, France, Estonia, and Japan). As many as 898 journalists submitted applications for accreditation to work at the Moscow forum. Also, about 300 media representatives worked at the venue of the 7th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.
