The Global Fishery Forum & International exhibition for fishery, seafood and know-how (Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo) was held in St. Petersburg on 14–16 September. Proxy Centre provided the complete range of operations associated with the accreditation of participants in the forum, journalists and service staff.
The forum was organized for the first time and became the highlight of the year for the fishing industry in Russia. Attending the event were professionals of the global fishing industry and allied sectors of the economy from more than 50 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and North and South America. The participants addressed trends and strategies for the development of the world market for fish and seafood, explored modern management practices for harvested stocks, and analyzed the strategy of Russia’s export/import policy. The exposition of the fishing industry exhibition showcased the achievements of the global fishing industry.
Specialists at Proxy Centre picked and trained temporary staff well in advance to act as accreditation operators. The staff of Proxy Centre supervised the work of the accreditation desks during the three days of the event. The company also provided specialized furniture for accreditation counters, as well as software and equipment, including printers for badges. All of the tasks were fulfilled in full in strict compliance with the high standards of operational processes and services.
The total number of participants in the forum exceeded 1,600. The exhibition of the fishing industry, seafood and technologies brought together more than 100 exhibitors from 25 regions of Russia and 11 countries.
Attending the forum were Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries Ilya Shestakov, Minister of Fisheries of the Kingdom of Norway Per Sandberg, Head of the State Sub-Secretariat for Fisheries and Aquaculture of Chile Pablo Manturan, Member of the Board (Minister) for Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex Sergei Sidorsky, Executive Secretary of the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) of the UN FAO Abdellah Srour, President of the Japan Fisheries Association Toshiro Shirasu, Vice President and Secretary General of China Overseas Fisheries Association of the People’s Republic of China Huang Baoshan.
As part of the forum, the strategy for the development of the national fisheries complex for the period to 2030 was presented, focusing on the rational and efficient use of national reserves and resources of the world oceans. In the course of the plenary session “Global View on Fisheries in the World Ocean: Cooperation or Competition?”, Representatives of the industry addressed key issues of national fishing interests in the areas regulated by international treaties, as well as in the exclusive economic zones of third countries.
