Proxy Centre specialists ensured seamless operation of transport info desks and transport zones during the Confederations Cup held in Russia from 17 June to 2 July under FIFA auspices.
Proxy Centre was responsible for operation of transport zones and transport info desks in all the four cities of the Confederations Cup: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi. The company’s experience obtained by participating in organising the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi enabled it to fulfill these tasks in strict observance of the terms and to provide the participants, organisers and guests of the Confederations Cup with a good, punctual transport service with a high level of service. During the tournament, the company’s employees repeatedly received positive feedback from the Confederations Cup visitors and participants.
The transport info desks provided VIP guests, organisers and participants in the football tournament with timely, exhaustive information about the transport services during the event. Effective operation of the transport zones ensured observance of well-developed traffic schemes at the Confederation Cup venues, fast parking of vehicles at the stadiums, passenger pick-up and put-down with due consideration of the requirements of the protocol services.
Proxy Centre employees organised competitive selection and training of supervisors for the transport desks, loading and unloading sites, parking lots and pass check areas. 198 people were engaged in this work, while 14 specialists of the company performed managerial functions. They prepared all the necessary documents for the employees’ work authorisation in advance, compiled and ensured execution of work schedules, including night shifts.
The matches of the Confederations Cup were attended by over 600 thousand people, with the average match attendance reaching 39 thousand people. Team Germany won the title. FIFA appreciated the tournament’s organisation in Russia. “We have managed to achieve the goals set before us and were praised by FIFA, the Organising Committee and the fans”, said Vitaly Mutko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation for Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy, following the Confederations Cup.
The Confederations Cup is a major football tournament that takes place in the country hosting the FIFA World Cup, one year before the championship. Current champions of all the six Confederations (AFC, CAF, CONCACAF, CONMEBOL, OFC, and UEFA), as well as the winner of the previous FIFA World Cup and the host country team, participate in the Confederations Cup. The following teams took part in this year’s tournament: Russia (host), Germany (2014 World Cup winner), Australia (Asian Cup winner), Chile (Copa América winners), Mexico (CONCACAF Gold Cup winner), Portugal (Euro winner), New Zealand (OFC Nations Cup winner), and Cameroon (Africa Cup of Nations winners).
In 2018, Proxy Centre will participate in the transport service for the FIFA World Cup. The company will provide transport services in eight of the 11 cities hosting the championship: St. Petersburg, Moscow, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don and Volgograd.
