Moscow has hosted the first Parliamentary Forum of the BRICS countries. More than 1000 heads and members of the highest legislative bodies from Brazil, Russia, India, China and the Republic of South Africa have gathered in such a format for the first time.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent his greetings to participants in the first BRICS Parliamentary Forum. According to the president, the BRICS Parliamentary Forum opens a qualitatively new dimension in the activities of the five countries and considerably expands its capabilities by enlisting representatives of different political parties, public organisations and expert communities for joint work.

Its plenary meeting consisting of two sessions was conducted by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko and State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin. First session was devoted to cooperation in the field of economy, trade and world security and fighting terrorism. The second part of the Forum focused on BRICS development. Parliamentarians are aimed to reform and improve United Nations, create a single market and bring in BRICS on world leading positions.   

Proxy Centre company put the most efforts to organize a high-level meeting on such activity areas as starting-up online registration system, guests’ on-site accreditation points operation, transport support, which entailed chauffeured company cars for the Heads of Delegations and free shuttles for the participants. Each delegation was appointed with a Liaison Officer, who was meeting and greeting the participants, accompanying them during all period of stay in Moscow, lending constant administrative and logistical support. The meeting venue was set-up according to a pre-agreed functional zones album and branded in line with BRICS signage.        

Following the First BRICS Parliamentary Forum, representatives of the Brazilian, Russian, Indian, Chinese, and South African delegations released a joint statement. The participants recognised the importance of the inter-parliamentary dimension of BRICS, welcomed progress achieved in BRICS economic and financial cooperation, especially the founding of the BRICS New Development Bank and Contingency Reserve Arrangement, and expressed support for all forms of inter-parliamentary cooperation among the BRICS countries.
