The 10th APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting took place on June 24-25, 2012, in St. Petersburg as part of Russia's chairmanship in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).
The event was attended by the energy ministers of the APEC economies, representatives of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC), the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Minister of Energy of Russia Alexander Novak chaired the event.
The meeting entitled Energy Security: Key to Sustainable Growth discussed energy security, energy efficiency and the development of the nuclear and gas industries.
At the end of the meeting, the APEC energy ministers adopted a joint declaration, which contains their proposals on the use of natural gas and increasing its role in the energy balances of the APEC economies; increasing their energy efficiency as well as improving nuclear safety in the region.
