Second Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM2), Food Security Ministerial Meeting and Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade were scheduled for May 20 through June 5, 2012 within the framework of the Russia's APEC chairmanship.
Work continued on all the key agenda items within the framework of priorities declared by Russia that is trade and investment liberalization, regional economic integration; strengthening food security; establishing reliable supply chains; intensive cooperation to foster innovative growth.
Kazan Ministerial Declaration on Food Security and a Trade Ministers' Declaration were approved following the SOM2 and the ministerial meetings. These documents would outline the main points of the APEC Leaders' pending declaration.
«Proxy Centre» specialists (host economy liaison officers) arrived in Kazan to provide close support for senior participants of the APEC ministerial meetings. Due to the large number of senior participants, an additional team of liaison officers was formed. «Proxy Centre» specialists organized specific professional trainings for the new team members.
The «Proxy Centre» transport service created a unique logistics system for the city of Kazan: a car fleet located at «Ak Bars» Palace of Martial Arts; a shuttle bus service departing from 12 designated hotels (Korston, Mirage, Riviera, Park Inn, Shalyapin Palace, Suleiman Palace, Art, Giuseppe, IT Park, Hayall, Marriott) which ran between the hotels, Kazan International Airport and the Tennis Academy. Further new routes have been introduced – the Kazan Kremlin, Kazan City Hall, «Panorama» and «Pashmir» restaurants. The transport service provided more than 30 police cortèges, including a police escort for the visit of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mr. Shuvalov. A car fleet of 200 vehicles, including 116 Mercedes Benz cars has been delivered from Moscow.
