On 23-24 June, Moscow will hosted the International Conference "Common Threats - Joint Actions: The Response of the BRICS Countries to Dangerous Infectious Diseases" as part of Russia's BRICS Presidency. The event will be organised by the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor).
On behalf of the “Proxy Centre” company, Liaisons Officers were providing full informational and administrative support during the preparation process and carrying-put of the meeting, our IT-specialists elaborated and launched online registration portal, shuttles were cruising for the participants on the arrival day from the airports and railway stations and on the way back, Accreditation and Information desks were operating on the meeting venue.
Taking part in the event were representatives of the BRICS countries, the World Health Organisation, the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS, the UN Development Programme, the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund and the World Bank, as well as leading Russian and foreign researchers in infectious disease prevention and treatment.
The main topic of the conference will be the contribution of the BRICS countries to strengthening international mechanisms for responding to healthcare emergencies in the wake of the recent Ebola outbreak in West Africa. In addition, participants will discuss prospects for stepping up cooperation within the BRICS to prevent and combat HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis, and also joining efforts to develop immunobiological and diagnostic products.
Russian Deputy Healthcare Minister Sergei Krayevoi noted positive dynamics of the reduction in the spread of infections in 2015 in comparison with 2013.
